Text Box: Facing Your Fears

As a young boy, my brothers would make holes in the hay and crawl through it.  I would start through the hay and get afraid and back out.  I have always been afraid of close places.  I once turned down a job working in the coal mines for $100 a day because I was afraid to go underground.  Recently our clubhouse, Ark House, took a trip to Falls Creek Falls.  As part of the trip, we went to Ruby Falls which is a cavern underground.  We had to ride an elevator  which went 260 feet underground and then we walked two tenths of a mile to the falls.  On the way to the park, I told the group that I didn’t know if I could go or not.  They encouraged me to try.  They said they would be with me, so I went on.  I am glad that I did.  I made it through the cavern and the falls were beautiful.  If I had not tried, I would have missed out on the chance of a lifetime.  To see something beautiful that not everybody has seen.  I thank God that through prayer and the help of my friends at the Arkhouse, I was able to face my fears and go on.

Sincerely,
Roy L. Hodges
