Text Box: Some of the projects I help with includes: selling candy, mops, brooms, and cookbooks. I help with the pancake breakfast that we have every year, sometimes 2 times a year. We help people around Christmas time with fruit baskets. We also help other organizations when they need help with raising money. We sell Christmas trees every year to help make money to do all the things we do. Text Box: With doing all this it helps me to get out and be around people and to get to know new people. The lions club helps me overcome some of my social fears. Terresa P. Text Box: The lions club is a community service organization that has clubs world wide. I am a member of this organization that could be considered a community of its own. Some of the projects that the lions club does is helping people when they need: Glasses Hearing aids Dental Work Text Box: Every year our biggest fund raiser is our Haunted House. The good thing about the Haunted House is that it’s not only important to Tazewell House Recovery Center but it is also important to the town of Tazewell. Every year people look forward to the Haunted House. The Haunted House joins us to our community. It allows people to come in to our house and see some of the creative things we can do. People see that we can function enough to put on such a big show. Text Box: Text Box: A lot of times during our Haunted House people from within the community will come in and volunteer to work with us. This shows how people are accepting of our program in the community. People join together with us to help us raise money. Our Haunted House makes us a big community attraction. It allows us to work on our recovery through raising money for ourselves to go on outings while helping put an end to stigma from within the community. Text Box: “ I enjoy being a grandmother.
