Catchment Area: Russell, Tazewell, and Buchanan Counties Purpose: To provide comprehensive 24-hour residential care and skills training. Program Description: Baxter House is a twelve-bed program in Buchanan County for adult males and females with moderate to profound mental retardation and/or more severe behavior problems. Staff provide 24-hour supervision. Training is provided for personal skills, fine/gross motor coordination, safety skills, social and communication skills, and leisure activities. Involvement with family is encouraged. Families are included in periodic planning for resident needs. This program is funded by Medicaid as an intermediate care facility. |
