HOURS OF OPERATION: 24-hours a day, 365 days per year

APPLICATION FOR SERVICES: Contact Program Nurse for Assessment.

POPULATION SERVED: Adults,18 years of age or older, with primary alcohol and/or drug diagnoses.

CATCHMENT AREA: Serving Counties of Buchanan, Russell, Tazewell, Dickenson, Lee, Scott, and Wise and the City of Norton. Other Southwest Virginia Counties are served through contracts with local Community Services Boards.

PURPOSE: To provide a non-hospital based medical detoxification and rehabilitation to adults with alcohol and other drug problems.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: To provide medically supervised detoxification for individuals in need of a supportive and supervised environment away from their usual place of residence.

SERVICES AVAILABLE IN THE PROGRAM:

DETOXIFICATION: This is a means of helping a person during the period of withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs, whose physical condition warrants close medical supervision.

GROUP COUNSELING: On a daily basis, participants in the program meet to discuss common problems and feelings.

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING: Those in the program are seen individually, during which time they are provided support, ventilation and clarification of living problems.

EDUCATIONAL GROUP: These sessions are held to supply individuals information on alcohol, alcoholism, the use of other drugs, and related issues.

CASE MANAGEMENT: While in the program, counselors meet with the participants to determine the appropriateness of making referrals to other agencies, and to aid them in working out problems in other areas of their lives

RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES: For people involved in the treatment program, various recreational activities are available. This allows them the opportunity to informally discuss their problems among other participants.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS OR NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS MEETINGS: Participants in the program are required to attend in-house A.A. or N.A. meetings, which can serve as a means for continuing treatment after discharge.
